How can we help? 👋

Loot Box Notion Template

We’ve built a component that makes it so that you can set up a gatcha game for real life.

Organizing tools like Notion templates can become complicated, especially when you’re juggling multiple workflows and streams of information in your life. With so many moving parts, it can be overwhelming to manage everything within a single system. That’s where components come in.

Most of the time, we need to solve one problem at a time. To do that effectively, it’s important to break down the challenge into its fundamental parts—first principles—so we can focus on what really matters and take actionable steps.

Components help you do exactly that. They allow us to group similar databases together into manageable chunks. This modular approach simplifies the larger system, breaking it down into smaller, more focused parts that you can tackle individually. By organizing everything into components, you’re able to manage your workflow more effectively and avoid being overwhelmed by the complexity of the full system.

The Loot Box Notion Template is a powerful component that lets you earn a randomized reward for anything you do in your Notion workspace.

Loot Box Database

How do we keep track of the items we want to reward ourselves randomly with?

The Loot Box Database database is where list and track all the different items that we would like to be rewarded with, and specify their rarity.

How It Works

  • Type lets you categorize what kind of reward you want.
  • Rarity helps you plan out how likely you’d like to earn this reward
  • Sample Loot Tracker is an example relation that connects to the Sample Loot Tracker Database to show you how to earn the item from any Notion database.

Setup

Views

  • All: Shows you all of your items in your loot box.
    • A gallery view that displays your items as “cards”
    • A list view that is easier to see on mobile.

Sample Loot Tracker Database

How do we trigger the loot box from any Notion database?

We built and connected a simple database to the activity log to show you the minimum requirements you need to get the loot box to reward you in any database in your Notion workspace.

How It Works

  • Each entry in this database could represent anything - a task, a habit, etc.
  • Positive Action is just a placeholder for anything that you want to trigger a reward being earned. In this case, when we check it off, we trigger a random rarity to be earned.
  • Reward Earned shows you the reward that you earned and if the reward you picked matches.
  • Date is just the date of the entry, its not mandatory, but it helps track when you earned the reward.
  • Reward Picked is the relation to the Loot Box Database that lets you pick the item. We typically limit it to 1 reward, per entry.
