Does The Make Work Fun App Only Work With Specific Templates?

The Make Work Fun app offers a versatile approach to personal productivity by enabling you to gamify any Notion database within your Notion ecosystem.

Although the Gamify Your Life & L-CTRL templates initially provided the most comprehensive gamification experience, the app now expands these capabilities to accommodate any Notion database including templates offered by Notion and other creators - such as August Bradley's PPV, William Nutt's Bulletproof Workspace, and Personal HQ by Marie Poulin.

With the ability to connect and gamify any Notion database, not just those found in the Co-x3 Toolbox, the Make Work Fun app adapts effortlessly to anyone with unique workflows and specific ways of doing things.

By making work more enjoyable and rewarding, this exciting tool transforms productivity and encourages users to unlock their full potential.

For my example, I’ve picked a random template from the Notion template space and duplicated it into my workspace. I landed on the Reading List template.

Once you have duplicated the template, you should be able to see it in your private workspace.

Go to the Make Work Fun app, under the Connect tab inside your Account, and click Connect or Reconnect Notion if you have already connected your database.

Make sure that you are in the workspace that currently houses the database you want to gamify. For example, if Reading List is under your Home workspace, select it or search for it in the search bar.

Then, click "Allow Access" to connect the database to Make Work Fun.

Click "Continue" to proceed.

Once you have added your Reading List Database, click on "Connect". Then, click on "Test Connection".

You will then be able to see all of the red properties that are currently missing, and you only need two more required properties added for a successful connection.

Add the required properties to ensure the connection is successful with the Make Work Fun app. The first one is using a checkbox called Share With Family?. Add this new property in your Notion page. Please note that it's case and specific letter sensitive.

Go back to Make Work Fun app, then click "Refresh 🔄". You will notice that the second required property is now green.

You can do the same thing with the third one by following the same steps. After doing the third property, you should get a pop-up that says your avatar is ready.

The Make Work Fun app has connected to our database successfully and retrieved our wins. It will now periodically check for wins that you want to be shared with the Make Work Fun app where you have the checkbox for Share With Family? ☑️.

In the next 30 seconds, “Shared With Family” will pop up in Family Connection property that lets us know it's already synced with the Make Work Fun app.

If you go to your Player page inside Make Work Fun app, you can see a gift that you can open with a lovely gif to celebrate the win after completing a book from our Reading List.

You can customize the Make Work Fun app to fit your specific needs. For example, you can add different properties that you want to save this specific database, such as books that you are reading that are more difficult and you want to earn more rewards for that. You can also add information such as when you wanted to read it and when you actually read it, so you can see the punctuality and get rewards based on how punctual you are.

You can add so much definition to your wins to ensure that you are on top of how you earn rewards in your life and how you want to gamify your own system. It’s completely up to you.

In conclusion, gamifying any Notion Database is simple and easy with the Make Work Fun app. You can connect with any Notion database within a Notion Ecosystem and gamify the experience. This makes it very flexible for anyone who already has custom systems built up, making it adaptable for people who have a specific way of doing things.
